Say Goodbye to Maintenance

Resin patios are designed specifically to be very low maintenance - they are fully porous, UV-resistant, anti-weed and anti-slip! This means you're matching eco-friendliness with practicality.

Resin Patios Raise Property Value

Having a beautiful patio with this material will certainly make a difference if you ever sell your property. Whether it's from all the longevity and maintenance benefits, or just the wow factor when a prospective buyer sees the garden - the investment pays for itself, in other words.

Environmentally Friendly Patios

Thanks to the lack of natural resources and all materials being from recycled sources, resin patios are indeed a more environmentally friendly option than some might think. Also, the porous nature of this product makes it even better.

So Many Designs

Resin patios come in all different shapes and sizes, the options are endless. The options include a pattern blended into the area, fancy edging style, custom lighting, invisible recessed manhole covers, and over 100 different stone selections to choose from.

PREPARATION WORK

In 90% of scenarios, some level of preparation work will be required before we can proceed with the resin. This includes potential excavation, waste removal, edging installations, recessed manhole covers, sub-base and base preparation. All done according to UK regulations and in line with Drainage and Permeable Surfaces regulations.

RESIN FINISH

Our resin bound finish can now be installed. We use our special resin mixer to combine the aggregate and polyurethane resin, respecting strict mixing and laying times, as well as very specific quantities. All resin surfacing must be completed in one day to avoid visible separations in the surface.

CURING TIME

How long does a resin patio need to cure?

We recommend at least 12 hours for resin to cure, but for safety, it's best to do 24 hours.

Depending on the weather, we typically advise 5–7 days for the surface to be completely cured before allowing vehicle traffic. If in doubt, go for 7 days.

Frequently Asked Questions for Resin Bound Patios

  • What is a resin bound patio?

A resin bound patio is a modern and lovely way spruce up your patio. They're great because of their eco-friendliness - the surface is fully porous and the materials are recycled. Resin is certainly the most premium option when it comes to patios, but it also has the longest lifespan and best look.

  • How is a resin patio installed?

A resin patio is installed thank to a 3-step system: the groundworks, the prep, the resin surface.

During the groundworks phase, the goal is to excavate to the appropriate depth, remove all waste responsibly, and assess the ground.

Onto the preparation, resin surfaces need a base + sub-base system, generally either Type 1 or Type 3 certified MOT as the sub-base and then either AC14 porous tarmac or AC32 porous tarmac as the base. This varies by the type and size of each job.

For the resin phase, very precise timing and amounts are used to mix the UV-stable polyurethane resin with the aggregates. Everything is then laid by hand in one day, the resin process cannot be interrupted because it would cause a visisble "join" in the surface. This means we are also very mindful of weather conditions - it must be above 5ºC and dry.

  • What is the difference between resin bound and resin bonded?

Resin bound and resin bonded are often mixed up, but they are not installed the same way. With resin bound, the UV-stable polyurethane resin and aggregate are mixed together before spreading. On the other hand, for resin bonded, the aggregate is "sprinkled" over a layer of resin. Resin bound leaves you with a smoother, more appealing look. Resin bonded is a tougher and less durable surface, but slightly cheaper to install.

  • Are resin patios permeable and SUDS compliant?

If a resin patio is installed from scratch with a full base and sub-base system, it will be permeable and fully SUDS compliant. However, if resin is laid on an existing surface, such as a tarmac. concrete, or slabs, it will not be fully permeable or SUDS compliant. Often, extra drainage is required in these scenarios. The cost savings are sizeable, so it's still a great option for a lot of customers.

  • How long does a resin patio last?

If a resin patio is installed properly, it will last over20 years. The robust base and sub-base system is thicker and more durable than other patio systems. The surface is also very strong, handling up to 7 tonnes with ease.
